Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have returned to the United Kingdom with their two children, Archie and Lilibet, just days after announcing plans to relocate from the United States.
The family reportedly flew privately from California and arrived at Birmingham Airport shortly before midday on Wednesday. There was no visible police presence as they departed the airport, according to a source cited by the BBC.
The couple is expected to settle at a private property in the Cotswolds, outside London, where they will live as non-working members of the Royal Family. Their children have reportedly been enrolled in a school in the UK, with the new academic term expected to begin next week.
Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal duties in early 2020 and moved permanently to California later that year. Their return marks a significant development after years of living in the United States.
King Charles III was informed about their plans earlier this month. Harry, Meghan and their children also visited the King at his Highgrove residence in July, although the planned relocation was reportedly not discussed during that visit.
The Prince and Princess of Wales have also been informed of the couple's plans.
Security is expected to remain a major issue following their return. Prince Harry previously challenged a decision to reduce the level of publicly funded security available to him and his family after he stopped being a working royal. The matter remains a subject of legal and public debate.
Although the Sussexes have not officially confirmed their arrival, their spokesman previously indicated that the family's chickens would remain in California, while their dogs, Mia and Pula, would travel with them.
Harry and Meghan are not expected to resume official royal duties despite their return to Britain.
