The Kano State Police Command has rescued the Sarkin Noman Kano, Alhaji Yusif Nadabo, after security operatives foiled a kidnap attempt in Garun Mallam Local Government Area of the state.
The command confirmed the incident in a statement issued by its spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, on Saturday.
According to the statement, the incident occurred at about 11:30 p.m. on August 29 when suspected bandits invaded Garun Mallam town and began shooting into the air.
During the attack, the gunmen abducted Alhaji Nadabo, while three residents sustained gunshot injuries.
The injured victims were identified as Yusif Nasiru, 20; Salisu Garba, 20; and Ibrahim Hassan, 20, all residents of Garun Mallam town.
Following a distress call, the police immediately deployed tactical teams, patrol officers and reinforcements from nearby divisions to the area.
The security operatives, working alongside members of the local community, pursued the fleeing suspects and forced them to abandon the kidnapped traditional title holder.
Police said Alhaji Nadabo was rescued unharmed.
The rescued traditional title holder and the three injured residents were subsequently taken to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital for medical attention.
The police command said confidence-building patrols had been intensified in and around Garun Mallam to prevent further attacks, while a manhunt had been launched for the fleeing suspects.
The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the swift response of the police teams and praised residents, vigilante members and the Neighbourhood Watch Corps for their support during the rescue operation.
He urged residents to remain calm and continue providing security agencies with useful information that could assist in the arrest of those responsible for the attack..
