The Kaduna State Police Command says it has intensified its crackdown on criminal activities, killing several notorious kidnappers, arresting 19 suspects, and recovering stolen property worth millions of naira during coordinated operations conducted over the past two weeks.
According to the Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, the command arrested 16 suspected kidnappers, three suspected gunrunners, and six suspects linked to the possession of 170 counterfeit US dollar notes.
The police also recovered 190 stolen solar inverters valued at about ₦69 million, 10 lithium batteries worth approximately ₦9 million, 10 firearms of different calibres, 83 packs of hard drugs, 32 stolen mobile phones, two plasma television sets, a stolen Toyota Sienna, and more than 400 rustled cattle.
One of the major breakthroughs came after the arrest of a 20-year-old woman, Aisha Barau, who was allegedly attempting to exchange counterfeit US dollars for naira. Her confession reportedly led to the arrest of other members of the counterfeit currency syndicate.
In another operation, anti-kidnapping operatives arrested three suspected gunrunners in Jos, Plateau State. The suspects—Luka Samuel, John Paul, and Musa Elisha—were allegedly supplying weapons and ammunition to bandits operating across northern Nigeria.
Police also apprehended a suspected kidnap kingpin, Abdullahi Mohammed, popularly known as "Aala," after months of surveillance. He allegedly confessed to coordinating multiple kidnapping operations and participating in the killing of two vigilante members. An AK-47 rifle and five rounds of live ammunition were recovered during the operation.
Commissioner Muhammad urged residents to continue providing useful information to security agencies, assuring that the command remains committed to eliminating criminal networks and protecting lives and property across Kaduna State.
