Senator Shuaib Salisu, representing Ogun Central Senatorial District, has provided ₦15 million in financial support to market women across the district under his OKOWO SALISU empowerment programme.
Salisu announced the intervention on Thursday during a meeting with market leaders at the office of the Iyaloja of Egbaland, Oluwakemi Oloyede, in Asero, Abeokuta.
The meeting was attended by Iyalojas and Babalojas representing various local government areas in Ogun Central.
The senator said the initiative was aimed at strengthening traders’ businesses and improving their livelihoods.
He explained that the latest intervention was a continuation of the empowerment programme, which in December 2025 provided ₦100,000 each to beneficiaries across the senatorial district.
Salisu said his representation would continue to focus on creating economic opportunities, supporting small businesses and promoting financial independence among constituents.
He also urged the beneficiaries to use the funds to expand their businesses and contribute to the development of their families and communities.
The senator assured residents that his office would continue to provide practical support for market men and women, entrepreneurs, youths and other vulnerable groups in Ogun Central.
