King Mohammed VI has granted royal pardons to 1,788 people convicted by Moroccan courts as part of the country's annual Throne Day celebrations, while outlining key priorities for Morocco's next phase of national development.
In a national address marking the 27th anniversary of his accession to the throne on July 30, the monarch highlighted Morocco's political stability as the foundation of its economic progress. He called for stronger public governance, continued institutional reforms, and sustained efforts to improve the country's social and economic achievements.
King Mohammed VI expressed confidence in Morocco's future, saying the country's accomplishments provide optimism and motivation to continue advancing development.
The King noted that Morocco's economy is expected to grow by 4.9 percent in 2025, with positive prospects for 2026. He praised the expansion of strategic industries, including automotive manufacturing, aerospace, renewable energy, and agri-food production.
He also said Morocco remains Africa's leading automobile exporter, with an annual production capacity of about one million vehicles. The monarch urged greater investment in strategic sectors such as cybersecurity, pharmaceuticals, defense, and green hydrogen to strengthen the country's economic sovereignty.
As part of the Throne Day celebrations, the royal pardon covered 1,679 inmates and 109 individuals who were not in custody. Beneficiaries received sentence reductions, commutations, or full pardons in line with Morocco's long-standing tradition of granting clemency during national celebrations.
King Mohammed VI concluded by calling for a new phase of development focused on boosting investment, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), promoting innovation, expanding exports, and continuing social protection programs.
