Troops of Operation Hadin Kai, working alongside a Special Tactical Team from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), have eliminated more than 21 Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists during a coordinated operation in the Kopre Mountain area of Hong Local Government Area, Adamawa State.
The operation, conducted on August 27, 2026, also led to the destruction of the terrorists’ camp and the recovery of weapons and ammunition.
Acting Military Information Officer, Captain Mohammed Goni, said the operation involved the ONSA Tactical Team and newly inducted personnel of 226 Battalion deployed to Sector 4, Adamawa State.
According to him, the troops acted on credible intelligence and carried out a stealth operation through the difficult terrain before launching a precision attack on the terrorist camp in the early hours of Thursday.
The operation was aimed at locating and rescuing victims being held by the terrorists, including people abducted from Mussa community in May and schoolchildren kidnapped from Lassa in June.
Goni said the troops engaged the terrorists in two separate encounters, killing more than 21 of them, while several others escaped with gunshot wounds.
The troops subsequently took control of the area, dismantled the camp and destroyed logistics facilities used by the terrorists.
Several motorcycles, bicycles and jerry cans containing petrol, believed to have supported the terrorists’ movement and logistics, were also destroyed.
The troops recovered several AK-47 rifles, magazines and a large quantity of 7.62mm special ammunition.
The military said the operation demonstrated the troops’ ability to conduct intelligence-led operations in difficult terrain and disrupt terrorist activities.
The Military High Command commended the ONSA Tactical Team and Operation Hadin Kai troops for their professionalism, bravery and coordination.
It also reaffirmed its commitment to continuing operations aimed at dismantling terrorist strongholds, destroying their logistics networks and rescuing abducted persons across the North-East.
