Jigawa Approves ₦3.5 Billion Loan to Support 2027 Hajj Pilgrims

The Jigawa State Government has approved a ₦3.5 billion loan to enable 466 intending pilgrims to pay their deposits for the 2027 Hajj exercise.

The approval was announced after the State Executive Council meeting held in Dutse by the Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, Sagir Musa.

According to Musa, the loan will be provided to the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board to ensure the state meets the deadline set by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) for early Hajj deposit payments.

He explained that the early payment would secure the state's Hajj allocation and allow timely arrangements for accommodation, transportation, feeding, and other essential services for pilgrims.

The commissioner said the decision reflects Governor Umar Namadi's commitment to the welfare of Jigawa residents and is intended to ensure a smooth and well-coordinated 2027 Hajj operation.

He urged all intending pilgrims to complete their registration and comply with the guidelines issued by the State Pilgrims Welfare Board.

In a separate decision, the Executive Council also approved ₦277.2 million for the first phase of the renovation of the Reformatory School in Kafin Hausa.

The project is expected to improve the school's infrastructure, provide a safer environment for rehabilitation, and equip juvenile inmates with skills and values that will support their successful reintegration into society.

The government said the renovation is part of its broader efforts to strengthen social welfare institutions and promote restorative justice across the state.
