The Jigawa State Government has approved ₦1.096 billion for the construction of roads, culverts and drainage facilities in Miga and Babura Local Government Areas.
The State Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sport and Culture disclosed this while briefing journalists on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting.
According to the commissioner, ₦346.998 million was approved for culverts and drainage works along the Sansani–Ganau–Samai Road in Miga LGA, while ₦748.730 million was allocated for similar projects on the Limintani–Kagadama Road in Babura LGA.
He explained that the projects are expected to reduce flooding, improve rainwater drainage, protect roads and properties, and provide safer and smoother transportation for residents.
The projects are also expected to improve connectivity and facilitate the movement of goods and services, thereby supporting economic activities in the affected communities.
In another development, the State Executive Council approved ₦405.160 million for the renovation of dilapidated classroom blocks across Jigawa State under the 2026 Capital Development Programme.
The government said the renovation would focus on schools with deteriorating classroom facilities and help create a better environment for teaching and learning.
The commissioner added that the intervention would address critical infrastructure challenges in schools and improve learning facilities across the state.
