Israeli Drone Strike on Gaza Café Kills Six, Including Child

Six Palestinians, including a child, were killed and more than 12 others injured on Tuesday after an Israeli drone struck a crowded café in the port area of Gaza City, according to eyewitnesses and a medical source.

Witnesses said the drone fired at least two missiles at the café. The victims were taken to nearby hospitals following the attack.

The Israeli military said the strike targeted Hamas commanders operating in the Al-Shati area and alleged that they were planning attacks against Israeli forces. Israeli Army Radio, citing an unnamed security source, reported that four Hamas commanders were among those targeted.

Hamas had not issued a response to the Israeli claims at the time of reporting.

The incident comes amid an ongoing ceasefire that, according to Gaza health authorities, has been repeatedly breached. The Gaza Health Ministry said Israeli violations of the truce have killed 1,266 Palestinians and injured about 4,200 others.

Since the conflict began in October 2023, more than 73,000 Palestinians have reportedly been killed and over 174,000 injured, according to Gaza health authorities.
