The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Osun State Command, has arrested 55 irregular migrants from Cameroon and the Republic of Congo for allegedly entering and staying in the state without valid travel documents.
The migrants were paraded by the command on Friday after they were arrested at different locations across Osun State following intelligence gathering.
The Osun Comptroller of Immigration, Ibrahim Akinyemi, said the migrants entered Nigeria through unauthorised routes and did not possess passports or other valid travel documents.
According to him, immigration officers tracked the migrants to their various locations and brought them to the command for profiling and documentation checks. Officials are expected to determine whether any of them are eligible to regularise their stay in Nigeria.
Akinyemi said some of the migrants were found living in Owode-Ede, while investigations were continuing to locate others who may be staying in undisclosed parts of the state.
He added that the migrants claimed during interrogation that they were involved in an online business known as QNET, although they allegedly refused to provide further details about their activities.
The immigration comptroller said the command would also investigate those who facilitated the migrants' movement into Osun State.
One of the migrants, Ismail Mohammed, a Cameroonian national, said he arrived in Osun in February 2026 after being invited by a woman living in Chad to participate in an online business.
The Nigeria Immigration Service said the arrested migrants would undergo further processing, with those found to have no legal basis to remain in Nigeria expected to be repatriated.
The development comes as security agencies continue to intensify efforts to identify and address irregular migration and undocumented foreign nationals across Nigeria.
