Gunmen Abduct Two Passengers After Blocking Plateau Highway

Gunmen have abducted two passengers after reportedly blocking the Bokkos–Barkin Ladi road in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The incident occurred at about 8:40 p.m. on Friday, according to counter-insurgency publication Zagazola Makama.

Following a distress call, troops of Sector 4, Operation Enduring Peace, were deployed to the area. Upon arrival, the troops reportedly discovered that the attackers had mounted a roadblock and stopped a vehicle driven by Kollog Dakwan.

The gunmen allegedly forced two passengers out of the vehicle before escaping into the surrounding bush.

Security forces immediately launched a search and rescue operation to locate the abducted passengers and track down the attackers. However, the initial operation reportedly did not make contact with the suspected kidnappers.

Troops have continued efforts to rescue the victims and identify those responsible for the attack. Security patrols have also been intensified along the Bokkos–Barkin Ladi route and nearby communities to prevent further attacks.

Local residents are expected to assist security agencies by providing information that could help locate the abducted passengers and identify the fleeing attackers.
