Gombe Emir's Palace Denies Claim Pantami Snubbed Emir During Ministerial Tenure

The Palace of the Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu-Abubakar III, has dismissed claims circulating on social media that the Emir was prevented from meeting former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, during his time in office.

In a statement, the palace described the allegation as false, baseless, and politically motivated, saying it was intended to create unnecessary tension and damage the reputation of the traditional institution.

Speaking on behalf of the palace, Ajiya Masu Gombe, who also heads the Lamurde Gombe Youth Forum, said the Emir and Prof. Pantami have long maintained a relationship built on mutual respect and cordiality.

The response followed allegations reportedly made by Affan Buba Abuya, a former aide to Prof. Pantami, who claimed the Emir was denied access to the former minister while Pantami served in the Federal Executive Council.

Rejecting the allegation, Ajiya Masu Gombe said the claim was completely untrue and warned that spreading such misinformation undermines the dignity of traditional rulers.

He stressed that the Emir had never been denied an audience with Prof. Pantami and urged members of the public to avoid making unfounded accusations against respected traditional leaders.

The palace also warned against attempts to drag traditional institutions into partisan politics, insisting that the Emir should not be used as a tool for political disagreements.

Furthermore, it stated that it is prepared to pursue legal action against anyone found deliberately spreading defamatory statements capable of tarnishing the image and integrity of the Emir of Gombe.

According to the palace, political actors and their supporters should conduct their activities responsibly while respecting the country's traditional institutions.
