Several filling stations across Nigeria have reduced the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), providing relief to motorists after weeks of rising fuel costs.
A market survey showed that Dangote Refinery-backed MRS filling stations in Abuja lowered their petrol price from ₦1,305 to ₦1,265 per litre, representing a ₦40 reduction. The new price has been observed at MRS outlets in Kubwa and along the Lugbe Expressway.
AA Rano filling stations also reduced their pump price by ₦30 per litre, bringing the price down from ₦1,330 to ₦1,300 per litre.
The price cuts come after nearly two weeks of increases driven by fluctuations in global crude oil prices.
Meanwhile, Dangote Refinery recently announced plans to distribute petrol free of charge to marketers across at least five states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), at a gantry price of ₦1,215 per litre.
Depot prices have also remained relatively stable, with petrol selling between ₦1,217 and ₦1,222 per litre at major depots, including Pinnacle, Emedab, NIPCO, and Sigmund.
The latest reductions are expected to ease transportation costs and provide some relief for consumers as fuel prices begin to decline.
