Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has disclosed that he earns a monthly salary of ₦503,000, while Permanent Secretaries in the state receive about ₦900,000.
The governor made the disclosure on Thursday during the inauguration of 12 four-bedroom terraced duplexes and the presentation of 12 official vehicles to newly appointed Permanent Secretaries in Asaba.
Oborevwori said the salaries of Permanent Secretaries were increased after they complained that some directors were earning nearly as much as they were.
He also disclosed that the Head of Service earns ₦1 million monthly.
The governor said his administration had prioritised the welfare and development of civil servants by providing official vehicles, housing and vehicle loans, farm inputs and training opportunities.
According to him, 302 public officers have benefited from the Public Officers’ Vehicle Loan Scheme, while 119 have benefited from the Public Officers’ Housing Loan Scheme.
Oborevwori also announced that Delta State would begin paying civil servants a 13th-month salary from December 2026. He said the government was preparing an executive bill to give the policy legal backing so that it would continue beyond his tenure.
The governor urged civil servants and political appointees to avoid absenteeism, nepotism, waste, inefficiency, bribery and corruption, stressing the need for improved service delivery across the state.
