Dangote Foundation Takes Over Kano Skills Centre in 20-Year Agreement

The Kano State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Aliko Dangote Foundation to take over and manage the Aliko Dangote Skills Acquisition Centre for 20 years.

The agreement, signed on Tuesday at the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, is aimed at repositioning the centre and expanding its capacity to provide entrepreneurial and vocational training for young people across Kano State.

The state government was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim, and the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Abdulkareem Maude. The Aliko Dangote Foundation was represented by its Programme Manager (North), Alhaji Sanusi Abdulkadir, and Programme Support Officer, Mustapha Umar.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, who was represented by the SSG, said the foundation had the technical and managerial expertise required to transform the centre into a leading vocational and entrepreneurial training institution in Nigeria and West Africa.

The governor said the decision followed deliberations by the State Executive Council, which approved the arrangement to promote best practices in vocational training.

He also expressed confidence that Aliko Dangote, a prominent son of Kano State, would use his expertise and resources to help develop the skills and entrepreneurial capacity of young people in the state.

The Aliko Dangote Ultra-Modern Skills Acquisition Centre was established by the Kano State Government during the administration of former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and was named after the Nigerian industrialist and businessman, Aliko Dangote.
