Army Black Hawk Crashes During Training Exercise in Colorado Foothills

A U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter from Fort Campbell, Kentucky, made an unplanned landing in a wooded area of Colorado’s foothills west of Denver on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.

The helicopter, operated by the Army’s 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, was carrying four people when it came down north of Golden Gate Canyon State Park in Gilpin County.

Authorities said no injuries were reported. The Army described the incident as an “aviation mishap” that occurred during a routine training operation.

An investigation into the incident is underway. The Army said it could not provide further details while the safety investigation remains active.
