Troops of the Joint Task Force North-East under Operation HADIN KAI have arrested four suspected Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) logistics suppliers during separate intelligence-led operations in Yobe and Borno states.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Acting Military Information Officer, Captain Mohammed Goni, troops of the 159 Battalion arrested two suspects during a cordon-and-search operation in Geidam, Yobe State, following credible intelligence.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly supplied hard drugs and other logistics to Boko Haram fighters, aiding insurgent activities. Security personnel recovered suspected Indian hemp, mobile phones, power banks, knives, torchlights, lighters, cigarettes, Pregabalin capsules, cough syrup, identity cards, ATM cards, and ₦14,530 from the suspects.
In a separate operation conducted later the same day, troops of Sector 3 Garrison, working alongside the 242 Reconnaissance Battalion, arrested two suspected ISWAP logistics suppliers in Monguno, Borno State after sustained surveillance of terrorist supply routes.
During interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to transporting food items and other supplies to ISWAP fighters operating in Kwatan Dowoshi Village in Kukawa Local Government Area.
Items recovered from the suspects included cartons of biscuits, Peak milk, sugar, soap, headlamps, bags of sachet garri, lighters, two mobile phones, an assault knife, a charm belt, prayer beads, herbal medicine, ₦6,600, and other supplies.
In a related development, troops of the 222 Battalion intercepted 20 suspected family members of Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) during a routine patrol along the Gezuwa axis in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.
The group consisted of nine women, two men, eight female minors, and one male minor. They told investigators they fled their enclave after sustained military offensives against terrorist hideouts.
The individuals have been handed over to the 21 Military Intelligence Regiment for further profiling and investigation, while all arrested suspects and recovered exhibits have been transferred to the appropriate military intelligence units for further action.
The military said the successful operations demonstrate the effectiveness of its intelligence-driven strategy in disrupting terrorist logistics networks and reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining pressure on Boko Haram and ISWAP across Nigeria's North-East.
