Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has approved the promotion of 3,592 civil servants following the successful completion of the 2025 promotion exercise conducted by the FCT Civil Service Commission.
The announcement was made on Wednesday by the Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh, who described the move as part of the administration's commitment to improving workers' welfare under President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to Ezeh, promotion examinations for senior officers were held from July 1 to 3, while junior staff sat for their examinations on July 10. He praised Wike for providing the necessary support that ensured the exercise was completed successfully.
Ezeh also revealed that the minister has directed the commission to immediately begin preparations for the 2026 promotion exercise so that eligible officers can be promoted without delay.
He said the decision reflects the FCT Administration's determination to balance infrastructure development with improved staff welfare and career advancement, ensuring civil servants benefit from the administration's achievements.
The commission chairman commended workers for maintaining peace and discipline throughout the promotion exercise and urged those eligible for the 2026 exercise to prepare early, noting that promotions are based on merit, competitiveness, and available vacancies.
He also appreciated the cooperation of the Joint Union Action Committee, describing its support as a key factor in the smooth conduct of the promotion process.
