The United States military has announced that it carried out its eighth consecutive night of airstrikes against Iranian military targets, saying the operation was aimed at weakening Iran's military capabilities.
According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), the strikes were conducted late on Saturday under the direction of the US Commander-in-Chief. The military said the operation targeted Iranian coastal surveillance systems, air defense facilities, maritime assets, as well as missile and drone storage sites.
CENTCOM stated that the attacks were intended to further degrade Iran's military capabilities and reduce its ability to launch future operations.
The US military also said it struck forces of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), accusing them of carrying out attacks against US service members stationed in Jordan on Friday.
Despite the escalating tensions, CENTCOM said American forces deployed across the Middle East remain on high alert and are fully prepared to respond to any further threats.
The latest strikes come amid growing military confrontation between the United States and Iran, raising concerns over the possibility of a wider regional conflict.
