U.S. President Donald Trump is set to host Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House on Tuesday, as the conflicts involving Iran and Ukraine reach pivotal moments.
The leaders are also in Washington to attend a memorial service for late Senator Lindsey Graham, a longtime Trump ally known for his strong support of Ukraine and U.S. foreign policy.
According to Reuters, Trump’s relationship with Zelenskyy has improved in recent months following Ukraine’s success in slowing Russian advances. During the meeting, Zelenskyy is expected to seek additional U.S. support, including Patriot missile interceptors, expanded air defense cooperation, and progress on drone and defense production agreements.
Meanwhile, Netanyahu’s visit comes amid growing tensions with the Trump administration over the lack of progress toward resolving the Iran conflict. Reports indicate the Israeli leader is also hoping to strengthen ties with Trump ahead of Israel’s October general election.
The White House said discussions with Netanyahu will focus on Iran, tensions along Israel’s northern border with Lebanon, and efforts to expand the Abraham Accords by encouraging Saudi Arabia to normalize relations with Israel.
Trump recently praised Netanyahu, describing him as a strong wartime leader, despite reports of disagreements between the two over military strategy in recent months.
Officials said Trump and Zelenskyy will also discuss ongoing efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war, with Ukraine seeking urgent military assistance as Russian missile attacks continue. After meeting Trump, Zelenskyy is expected to address all 100 U.S. senators at the Capitol.
The high-profile meetings underscore Washington’s central role in addressing two of the world's most pressing security crises, even as diplomatic efforts continue without any immediate resolution in sight.
