Three Nigerians Arrested in India Over Alleged Drug Trafficking

Indian authorities have arrested three Nigerian nationals for their alleged involvement in a drug trafficking syndicate operating in the country.

According to reports by The New Indian Express, the suspects entered India on medical and tourist visas before allegedly engaging in the illegal drug trade.

The suspects, identified as Ambemo Victor (37), Chime Moses (36), and Karikari Ames (33), were arrested by the Anti-Narcotic Wing of the Indian Central Crime Branch during raids carried out in Bengaluru.

Police said officers seized 10.27 kilograms of MDMA crystals and 2.044 kilograms of hydroponic cannabis, with the drugs estimated to be worth about ₹2.3 billion (23 crore rupees).

Investigators alleged that the suspects obtained the drugs from another Nigerian national based in Delhi before distributing them.

The arrests come just two months after four other Nigerians were detained in India over separate allegations of fraud and impersonation. In that earlier case, authorities reportedly recovered multiple mobile phones, a laptop, and several Indian and international SIM cards from the suspects.

The investigation into the latest drug trafficking case is ongoing as Indian authorities work to identify other members of the alleged network.
