Three people have died and hundreds of residents have been displaced after a powerful rainstorm accompanied by strong winds swept through communities in Nguru Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The overnight storm affected Tsohon Nguru (Old Nguru), Filing Idi, and nearby communities, causing widespread destruction to homes, perimeter fences, shops, and other property worth millions of naira. Several residents also sustained injuries.
A local resident, Bukar Adamu, said the disaster forced many families to abandon their homes and seek shelter with relatives or in public buildings.
According to him, the storm destroyed numerous houses and valuable property, leaving many victims in urgent need of humanitarian assistance. He appealed to the government and charitable individuals to provide relief for the affected families.
One of the victims, Mustapha Modu, said the strong winds tore off the roof of his house, forcing him to relocate his wife and children to his brother's residence for safety.
