Terrorists Kill 16 Soldiers in Niger Republic Attack.

At least 16 soldiers have been killed and 23 others injured in a terrorist attack in western Niger Republic, according to the country's state news agency, ANP.

The attack occurred on Friday in the Téra area of the Tillabéri region, near Niger's borders with Mali and Burkina Faso. Authorities said nine of the injured soldiers are in critical condition.

The military also reported that 15 suspected terrorists were killed during the confrontation.

According to ANP, security forces have launched ongoing search and clearance operations to track down the attackers and secure the affected area.

Niger has faced persistent attacks from armed groups linked to Al-Qaeda and the Islamic State for more than a decade. Despite the military government taking power in July 2023, extremist violence continues to pose a major security challenge across the country.
