Troops of the Joint Task Force (North West), Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 13 kidnapped victims during separate military operations in Anka and Kaura Namoda Local Government Areas of Zamfara State.
According to the military, the operations were carried out by troops of Sector 2 following credible intelligence on terrorist movements in the affected communities.
In the first operation at Bagega in Anka LGA, soldiers tracked a group of armed terrorists heading toward Tungan Kudaduku. After engaging them in a gun battle, the terrorists fled the area, abandoning their mission. A search of their hideout led to the rescue of five kidnapped civilians, all unharmed.
In another operation at Ungwan Rogo in Kaura Namoda LGA, troops confronted terrorists after receiving intelligence about their activities. Following a fierce exchange of gunfire, the criminals escaped, leaving behind eight kidnapped victims and two vehicles, which were recovered by the troops.
The Nigerian Army confirmed that all 13 rescued victims have been handed over to the appropriate authorities for medical attention and further support.
Military authorities also stated that troops will continue offensive operations across the North-West to deny terrorists freedom of movement and sustain pressure on criminal groups operating in the region.
