Soldiers Repel Coordinated ISWAP Attacks on Borno Communities

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have successfully repelled multiple coordinated attacks launched by suspected Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters on several communities in Borno State.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the Acting Military Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, the terrorists attempted to infiltrate Muna Garage, Shuwari Village, and the Ajilari Cross area on the outskirts of Maiduguri between 12:20 a.m. and 2:30 a.m.

The military said troops, aided by an effective early warning system, detected the movement of the insurgents and engaged them with heavy firepower, forcing them to retreat without breaching the city's defenses.

Captain Goni also disclosed that separate infiltration attempts at Miringa and Dutsen Kura in Buratai Local Government Area were similarly repelled by security forces.

During the pursuit of the fleeing terrorists in Miringa, a Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle triggered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). However, no soldiers were injured in the explosion.

The military stated that the attackers abandoned their mission after facing stiff resistance and fled in disarray. Troops have since launched clearance operations to track down the fleeing insurgents, secure the affected areas, and prevent further attacks.

Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations against terrorist groups across the North-East and urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information to security agencies to support ongoing counter-terrorism efforts.
