Four Trapped as Building Under Construction Collapses in Kano, Three Rescued

A two-storey building under construction collapsed on Sultan Road in Kano on Friday morning, trapping four people beneath the rubble.

The incident occurred at about 9:00 a.m. According to eyewitnesses, workers noticed signs that the structure was becoming unstable while construction was ongoing on the upper floor. Most of the workers managed to escape before the building gave way.

However, four people, including a security guard and a commercial tricycle rider, were trapped in the collapse.

One of the construction workers, Shuaibu Yaro, said the site engineer alerted workers after detecting signs of structural failure.

> "We had just started taking sand upstairs when the engineer noticed the building was about to collapse. We all rushed out, but unfortunately four people were trapped. Three have since been rescued, while one person is still under the rubble," he said.

The rescued victims sustained varying degrees of injuries and were taken to Sir Muhammadu Sanusi Specialist Hospital in Kano for medical treatment.

Emergency responders continued rescue operations at the scene as efforts intensified to locate and rescue the remaining trapped victim. The cause of the building collapse has not yet been officially determined, and authorities are expected to launch an investigation into the incident.
