At least 11 people have been killed and dozens injured after Russia launched a large-scale missile and drone attack on Ukraine overnight, targeting the capital, Kyiv, and surrounding areas.
According to Ukrainian authorities, 10 people were killed in Kyiv while another person died in the surrounding region. At least 56 others were injured as rescue workers continued searching damaged buildings.
Ukraine's military said Russia fired 68 missiles and 351 drones during the overnight assault, damaging at least 15 residential buildings across Kyiv, including several in the city's historic Podilskyi district.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had warned that Russia could launch another major attack ahead of this week's NATO summit in Ankara, Turkiye, where he is expected to meet U.S. President Donald Trump.
The latest bombardment comes just days after another deadly Russian strike on Kyiv that killed 31 people, marking one of the deadliest attacks on the Ukrainian capital this year.
Meanwhile, Russian-installed officials in Crimea said a Ukrainian strike near Sevastopol temporarily disrupted electricity supplies after targeting energy infrastructure.
The Russia-Ukraine war, now in its fourth year, has seen both sides intensify long-range missile and drone attacks, with Ukraine increasingly targeting Russian energy facilities while Russia continues large-scale strikes on Ukrainian cities.
