Police Investigate Death of 60-Year-Old Man in Jigawa Hotel

The Jigawa State Police Command has launched an investigation into the sudden death of a 60-year-old man who died at a hotel in Dutse after reportedly falling ill while in the company of a 20-year-old woman.

Police spokesperson, SP Shi'isu Adam, said the incident occurred on July 21, 2026, at about 12:50 p.m. According to him, the man checked into the hotel with the young woman and later developed a medical emergency shortly after requesting and eating a meal.

Officers from the Yalwawa Police Division responded immediately after receiving a distress call and rushed the victim to the General Hospital in Dutse. However, doctors confirmed him dead on arrival.

During a preliminary investigation, detectives recovered food items, drinks, a suspected sexual enhancement substance, and other personal belongings from the hotel room for forensic examination.

The deceased's body was later released to his family for burial after all necessary procedures were completed.

Police confirmed that the 20-year-old woman is cooperating with investigators and has been providing useful information to help establish what happened before the man's death.

The Commissioner of Police assured residents that the investigation would be thorough, professional, and impartial, urging the public to avoid spreading unverified information while inquiries continue.

Authorities said further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
