Police Arrest Asaba Content Creator Over Alleged Rape, Death of 20-Year-Old Woman

The Delta State Police Command has arrested an Asaba-based content creator, Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as "Odogwu of Asaaba," over allegations of raping a 20-year-old woman, Favour Agbro, who later died after allegedly ingesting a toxic substance.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the arrest followed a petition alleging that the victim travelled to Asaba on June 1, 2026, after Ogbonna promised to support her financially and train her in content creation.

Police said the suspect allegedly took the young woman to a hotel upon her arrival, where she was reportedly raped and physically assaulted.

Investigators said the victim later returned home in distress, narrated the incident to her family, and recorded a video detailing her ordeal before allegedly consuming a poisonous substance. She later died despite efforts to save her, while the video circulated widely on social media.

Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, ordered an immediate investigation into the case, leading to Ogbonna's arrest. Police said the suspect has made statements during interrogation, while investigations continue to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

The Commissioner assured the public that the case would be handled professionally and that anyone found culpable would face the full weight of the law.

Police also appealed to members of the public with relevant information to assist the ongoing investigation.
