Nigeria's active mobile telephone subscriptions increased to 188.01 million in April 2026, according to the latest figures released by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).
The report shows that Globacom (Glo) retained 23.18 million active subscribers, reinforcing its position as one of the country's major telecom operators.
The NCC data also revealed that teledensity rose to 86.73 percent, while broadband subscriptions climbed to 120.68 million, reflecting increasing demand for voice and internet services across the country.
Industry experts attributed the steady growth to the completion of the NIN-SIM verification exercise and the removal of inactive lines, making the current subscriber figures a more accurate measure of active mobile users.
Analysts said Glo's subscriber base provides a strong foundation for expanding broadband services, improving customer experience, and strengthening its presence in Nigeria's highly competitive telecommunications market as the company prepares to celebrate its 23rd anniversary in August.
The telecom operator has continued to attract customers through affordable products and services, including its Talkmasta tariff plan and enhanced welcome bonuses for both new and existing subscribers.
