NDLEA Intercepts 43,980 Tramadol Capsules Hidden in Vehicle Fuel Tanks

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has uncovered 43,980 capsules of tramadol concealed inside two large vehicle fuel tanks in what officials described as a sophisticated drug trafficking operation.

According to the agency's Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the suspect allegedly travelled to Onitsha, Anambra State, to purchase the fuel tanks specifically to hide and transport the illicit drugs.

The agency said the suspect successfully moved the concealed shipment through several security checkpoints from Anambra State before he was intercepted and arrested by NDLEA operatives in the Wukari area of Taraba State.

Babafemi explained that officers discovered the hidden drugs after dismantling the fuel tanks, bringing the trafficking operation to an abrupt end.

The NDLEA stated that the seizure highlights the increasingly sophisticated methods being used by drug traffickers and reaffirmed its commitment to tracking down and dismantling illicit drug networks across Nigeria.
