The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Lagos Free Trade Zone (LFTZ) Command, has announced that it generated N408.8 billion in revenue between January and June 2026, marking a significant increase in collections compared to the same period last year.
Speaking during the 2026 Half-Year Media Briefing in Lekki on Thursday, the Customs Area Controller of the command, Hauwa Abubakar, said the revenue exceeded the N317.3 billion collected in the first half of 2025 by N91.54 billion, representing a 28.85 percent growth.
Abubakar attributed the improved performance to strategic efforts aimed at strengthening compliance with customs regulations, improving operational efficiency, and maintaining close collaboration with stakeholders operating within the Lagos Free Trade Zones and Lekki Deep Seaport.
She noted that sustained engagement with investors, importers, exporters, licensed customs agents, and other stakeholders has encouraged voluntary compliance with customs laws while facilitating legitimate trade and protecting government revenue.
According to her, the professionalism, discipline, and dedication of officers at the command have also contributed significantly to the impressive revenue growth and boosted confidence among members of the trading community.
The Customs boss further revealed that June 2026 recorded the command's highest monthly revenue since its establishment, with a total collection of N87.10 billion, describing it as evidence of increasing investor confidence and the growing capacity of the command.
Abubakar commended the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, for his leadership and support, while also appreciating the cooperation of security agencies, regulatory bodies, investors, customs agents, importers, exporters, and other business partners.
She reaffirmed the command's commitment to improving service delivery and surpassing its revenue targets in the second half of the year without compromising its statutory responsibilities.
Established four years ago, the Lagos Free Trade Zone Command has emerged as one of the Nigeria Customs Service's leading revenue-generating commands, playing a key role in trade facilitation and promoting ease of doing business within the country's Free Trade Zones and Lekki Deep Seaport.
