INEC Opens 2026 Recruitment Portal, Announces Application Process

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced its 2026 recruitment exercise, inviting qualified Nigerians to apply for various entry-level positions across Grade Levels 07, 08, 09, 10 and 12.

According to the commission, the online application portal opened on July 20 and will close on July 27, 2026. The recruitment is aimed at strengthening INEC's workforce in electoral administration, voter registration, election logistics and data management.

Available Positions

The vacancies are divided into three categories:

Professional Cadre (Grade Levels 09, 10 and 12): Accountant, Clinical Officer, Lawyer, ICT Officer, Engineer and Quantity Surveyor.

Administrative Officer II (Registration Area Officer) – Grade Level 08

Executive Officer (Registration Officer) – Grade Level 07

Applicants for professional positions must possess a bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification, relevant professional certifications where applicable, at least two years of post-qualification experience, and an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.

Candidates for Administrative Officer II must hold a bachelor's degree, HND or equivalent qualification, while Executive Officer applicants must possess an NCE or its equivalent.

General Requirements

Applicants must:

Be Nigerian citizens not older than 35 years.

Present a valid certificate of state of origin.

Be physically and mentally fit.

Have no criminal record.

Be willing to work in any part of the country.

Demonstrate integrity, discipline and good ICT skills.

How to Apply:

Interested candidates are required to:

1. Visit the INEC recruitment portal.

2. Create an applicant account using their personal details, email address and National Identification Number (NIN).

3. Verify their email address.

4. Select their preferred position.

5. Upload all required documents, including educational certificates, passport photograph, birth certificate or declaration of age, local government identification certificate and NYSC certificate where applicable.

6. Review and submit the application.

INEC emphasized that the recruitment process is free of charge and warned applicants against submitting false information or forged documents, noting that offenders will be disqualified and may face prosecution. The commission also stated that only shortlisted candidates will proceed to the next stage of the recruitment exercise.
