The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has named Bello Ambarura, the member representing Illela/Gwadabawa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, as its deputy governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Sokoto State.
The announcement was made by the party's Sokoto State Publicity Secretary, Lamir Aminu, who said Ambarura will run alongside the party's governorship candidate, Manir Muhammad Dan-Iya.
According to Aminu, the nomination followed extensive consultations within the party and complies with Section 187(1) of the 1999 Constitution. He described the decision as part of the ADC's effort to present a competent, credible and people-focused leadership team for the state.
Ambarura is a former Permanent Secretary in the Sokoto State Civil Service and previously served as Commissioner for Commerce and Industries. He was elected to the Sokoto State House of Assembly in 2019, where he served as Majority Leader before winning election to the House of Representatives in 2023.
The ADC said Ambarura's experience in public administration and legislative service would strengthen its governorship ticket ahead of the 2027 election.
The party also congratulated Ambarura on his nomination and urged members, supporters and residents of Sokoto State to rally behind the Dan-Iya/Ambarura ticket in the build-up to the governorship election.
