India: No Fault Found in Air India Boeing 787 Fuel Switch After Investigation

The Indian government has announced that no abnormality was found in the fuel control switch of an Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner after pilots reported a possible defect during a London-to-Bengaluru flight in February.

According to Deputy Civil Aviation Minister Murlidhar Mohol, a detailed inspection carried out by Boeing found the fuel control switch to be functioning normally. However, the aircraft's complete thrust control module has been sent to a Boeing facility for further examination.

The incident drew renewed attention to the Boeing 787's fuel control switches following the investigation into the fatal Air India Dreamliner crash in Gujarat last year, which claimed 260 lives. Investigators are continuing to examine whether any technical issues may have contributed to that accident.

Indian authorities said the latest inspection found no evidence of a fault in the fuel switch involved in the February incident, while the broader technical review remains ongoing.
