A non-profit organisation, Love for Change Women Foundation (LCWF), has empowered teenage girls in Kwara State with robotics, leadership, and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) skills through the fourth edition of its InnovatHER Robotics Workshop in Ilorin.
The initiative aimed to encourage more girls to pursue careers in science and technology by providing hands-on robotics training, mentorship, teamwork, and leadership development.
Founder of the foundation, Modupeola Bello-Olukoya, said the programme was designed to raise a new generation of confident, innovative, and technology-driven female leaders capable of contributing to Nigeria's digital economy and Africa's future.
She explained that the workshop focused not only on technical knowledge but also on building confidence, critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and problem-solving abilities among participants.
Bello-Olukoya noted that Kwara State was chosen because of its growing investment in digital education, innovation, and youth development, making it an ideal environment for expanding opportunities for young girls.
She added that the foundation has created a community of nearly 200 girls who continue to benefit from mentorship programmes, artificial intelligence training, personal development sessions, and scholarship opportunities.
The foundation also called on governments, organisations, and individuals to partner in expanding access to technology education and leadership opportunities for girls across Nigeria and Africa.
