At least 27 people have died after a devastating fire swept through a popular entertainment venue in Thailand's capital, Bangkok, in the early hours of Sunday.
According to Thai authorities, firefighters responded to the incident shortly after midnight and found people desperately trying to escape through the bar's main entrance as flames rapidly engulfed the building.
Several others sustained injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment, while authorities say a number of people remain unaccounted for.
Thailand's Prime Minister, Anutin Charnvirakul, visited the scene and confirmed the death toll, adding that the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The bar, located in Bangkok's Chatuchak District, is a well-known entertainment and dining venue. Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control within about 30 minutes.
Images from the scene showed the interior completely destroyed, with walls blackened by smoke and the ceiling badly damaged.
Emergency responders continue search and rescue operations as investigators work to determine what sparked the deadly fire.
