Atiku Challenges Obasanjo to Publicly Declare Support for Tinubu Ahead of 2027 Election

Former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has called on former President Olusegun Obasanjo to openly declare his preferred candidate for the 2027 presidential election instead of making what he described as politically motivated allegations against him.

Atiku's reaction followed Obasanjo's recent claim that he gave the late former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ghali Na’Abba, ₦5 million to initiate impeachment proceedings against him during their time in office.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku dismissed the allegation as an attempt to tarnish his reputation and influence public opinion ahead of the 2027 elections.

He argued that if Obasanjo had chosen to support a particular presidential candidate, he should state it openly and allow Nigerians to judge his decision, rather than relying on allegations that cannot be verified because the late Na’Abba is no longer alive.

Atiku also questioned why the former president waited until after Na’Abba's death to revive the allegation, insisting that if there had been evidence of wrongdoing while Obasanjo was in office, he had the authority to investigate and prosecute the matter.

The former vice president maintained that the accusations were politically motivated and challenged Obasanjo to provide credible evidence to support his claims.
