Atiku Blames Tinubu Over Southern Kaduna Killings, Demands Security Overhaul

Former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has strongly condemned the recent killings in Southern Kaduna, describing the attack as a tragic reflection of the Federal Government's inability to protect lives and property.

In a statement released on Monday through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku said the massacre in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State was "heartbreaking and unacceptable," stressing that every life lost highlights the government's failure to fulfill its constitutional responsibility of ensuring citizens' safety.

He criticized the administration of President Bola Tinubu, accusing government officials of focusing on what he described as claims of international commendation instead of addressing Nigeria's worsening security challenges.

Atiku contrasted Nigeria's response to insecurity with that of the United States, citing a reported U.S. effort to spend about $750,000 to rescue a stranded citizen. According to him, the action demonstrated how governments should prioritize the safety of every citizen.

The former vice president said Nigerians are not seeking international praise but effective leadership that guarantees security, allowing people to live, travel, farm, and conduct their daily activities without fear of attacks by terrorists, bandits, and other criminal groups.

He called for a comprehensive review of the country's security architecture, urging authorities to strengthen intelligence gathering, ensure swift prosecution of those responsible for violent crimes, and implement proactive measures to prevent future attacks.

Atiku also extended his condolences to the families of the victims and the people of Southern Kaduna, praying for those who lost their lives and wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

He further urged security agencies to investigate the incident thoroughly, arrest and prosecute those responsible, and reinforce security in vulnerable communities as the country moves closer to another political season.

According to Atiku, history will judge any administration not by claims of international recognition but by its ability to protect the lives and property of its citizens.
