The Nigerian Army has declared one of its personnel, Private Mohammed Yusuf Amutu, wanted for allegedly selling military uniforms and other controlled items to terrorists and criminal groups.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the Headquarters Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps, the Army said preliminary investigations linked the soldier to the illegal activities after he absconded from his unit.
According to the statement, Amutu, who was serving at the Nigerian Army Ordnance Kits Factory, deserted his duty post on June 3, 2026, prompting military authorities to declare him wanted.
The Army said security agencies are making intensive efforts to track down and arrest the suspect so he can face a full investigation and disciplinary action in line with military laws.
The Nigerian Army reiterated its zero-tolerance policy for misconduct, warning that any personnel involved in the unauthorized sale or diversion of military uniforms, equipment, or other controlled items to terrorists or criminal elements would face the full weight of military and civil laws.
The Army also appealed to members of the public to provide credible information that could lead to the arrest of the wanted soldier, urging anyone with useful information to report to the nearest military formation or any security agency.
It reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism, accountability, and safeguarding military assets, adding that all allegations of misconduct would be thoroughly investigated and offenders held accountable.
