Gaza's Ministry of Health says at least 16 Palestinians were reported dead over the past 48 hours, including seven people killed in recent Israeli attacks and nine whose bodies were recovered from beneath the rubble of destroyed buildings.
According to the ministry, hospitals across the Gaza Strip also received 16 injured people during the same period. It added that more victims are believed to be trapped under collapsed structures, with rescue teams unable to reach them in some areas.
The reported casualties come despite a ceasefire agreement reached between Israel and Hamas in October 2025. While large-scale fighting has decreased, Palestinian health authorities say Israeli military operations have continued in parts of the enclave.
The ministry stated that more than 1,000 people have been killed and over 3,400 injured since the ceasefire took effect, and put the overall death toll in Gaza since October 2023 at more than 73,000, with over 173,000 others injured. These figures have not been independently verified.
Meanwhile, negotiations on the next phase of the ceasefire remain deadlocked, with disagreements over Hamas's disarmament and the extent of an Israeli military withdrawal from Gaza continuing to delay progress.
