Soldiers Rescue Eight Kidnap Victims in Plateau Forest

Troops of Sector 9 under Operation ENDURING PEACE have rescued eight kidnapped victims from Pandam Forest in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The rescue operation was carried out on Wednesday, June 24, around 3:00 a.m., after security forces received credible information about the presence of kidnappers in the forest.

The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Captain Chinonso Oteh, confirmed that troops from Namu Town launched an offensive operation which led to the successful rescue of the victims.

He said the soldiers engaged the suspected kidnappers in a gun battle during the operation. Amid the confrontation, three victims managed to escape from their captors.

A further search of the forest led to the rescue of five additional victims, bringing the total number rescued to eight.

The rescued victims are currently safe, while efforts are ongoing to reunite them with their families.

The military praised residents for their cooperation and urged communities to continue providing useful information to security agencies.

Troops are still pursuing the fleeing kidnappers in an effort to arrest them and restore peace in the area.
