Rarara Accuses Davido of Damaging Nigeria’s Image on Global Stage

Popular Hausa praise singer, Dauda Adamu Kahutu, popularly known as Rarara, has criticised Afrobeats star David Adeleke (Davido), accusing him of portraying Nigeria negatively before the international community.

Rarara’s comments followed Davido’s appearance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup countdown concert, where the singer wore a jacket with the message “Bring Them Home” and displayed the names of abducted schoolchildren and teachers from Oyo State.

The incident relates to an attack on three schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, where 39 students and seven teachers were reportedly abducted on May 15.

In a social media post after the performance, Davido said he would continue to represent Nigeria with pride and expressed prayers for victims and their families.

Reacting in a video shared on his verified Facebook page, Rarara described Davido’s action as “barbaric” and argued that highlighting insecurity issues internationally could harm Nigeria’s reputation.

He questioned the reason for displaying the names of the abducted children on the Nigerian flag abroad, alleging that the issue could be connected to political interests.

Rarara claimed that security matters are sensitive and should not be used as a campaign tool. He also accused some content creators of promoting narratives that could benefit criminal groups.

He said Nigeria’s security challenges require careful handling and that public figures should understand the full circumstances before speaking on such issues.

Davido has not publicly responded to Rarara’s criticism.
