Israeli air strikes have continued to hit towns in southern Lebanon despite an agreement between the United States and Iran that is expected to be formally signed on Friday to end the wider conflict.
According to Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency, Israeli drones carried out three attacks in the city of Tyre, causing injuries, while another drone targeted the Bint Jbeil area in Nabatieh.
The violence in Lebanon has become one of the biggest challenges to the US-Iran agreement, with Tehran warning that continued Israeli attacks and the occupation of Lebanese territory could be considered a violation of the deal.
Earlier on Wednesday, Israeli forces reportedly carried out an air strike near Kfar Tebnit in Nabatieh district. They also launched raids on Nabatieh al-Fawqa and shelled areas around Ali al-Taher heights.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah fighters fired at least 10 rockets toward Israeli forces near Kfar Tebnit.
The attacks came a day after Israeli strikes killed at least four people in Nabatieh, including in drone attacks on several vehicles.
Although violence has decreased since the US-Iran agreement was announced, attacks have not completely stopped. Residents returning to their villages in southern Lebanon say they remain worried and do not trust that Israel will respect the ceasefire.
The United Nations said the number of attacks between Israeli forces and Lebanon dropped significantly, with 174 projectiles recorded on Sunday compared with 705 the previous week.
Iran said Israel violated the Lebanon ceasefire 84 times in two days and warned that continued attacks could lead to a “harsh response.”
Iranian officials said Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanese territory is a key condition for moving forward with the US-Iran agreement.
Meanwhile, Amnesty International accused Israel of carrying out forced displacement in Lebanon, saying the actions could amount to war crimes under international law.
Lebanese officials said Israeli operations since March have killed more than 3,800 people, injured over 11,850, and displaced more than one million people.
