The Violent Crimes Response Unit (VCRU) of the Abia State Police Command has arrested a man who was seen physically assaulting a woman in a viral video shared widely on social media.
The suspect was arrested by police officers led by the Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Emeka Amanchukwu after the unit received credible information about his identity and location.
The police confirmed that the man was apprehended in the Ogbor Hill area of Aba on June 20.
Sources said the officers acted quickly after receiving intelligence, leading to the suspect’s arrest.
“The suspect is currently in police custody while investigations are ongoing,” a source said.
The VCRU has assured the public that it remains committed to identifying, arresting, and prosecuting individuals involved in violent crimes.
