Plateau Tragedy: Police IG Deploys AIG, Orders Security Reinforcement

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has deployed the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 4 Headquarters, Makurdi, Dankombo Morris, to Plateau State following a deadly attack on Kawel community in Mushere District, Bokkos Local Government Area.

The attack reportedly claimed the lives of at least 20 villagers.

The deployment is aimed at assessing the security situation, restoring calm, and preventing further attacks in the affected communities.

The police chief also approved the deployment of more personnel and operational resources, including Police Mobile Force units and tactical teams, to strengthen security operations in the area.

During his visit to Bokkos, the AIG met with local government officials, traditional leaders, and community stakeholders to coordinate the response.

The police command said the Chairman of Bokkos Local Government Area, Amalau Samuel Amalau, described the attack as a tragic and unprovoked criminal act, while appealing for more security support.

Women leaders in the area also called for stronger security measures and the use of modern policing technology to protect vulnerable communities.

The AIG conveyed the condolences of the Inspector-General of Police to the government and people of Plateau State, assuring residents that additional manpower had been deployed to protect lives and property.

He urged community leaders, youths, and residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that could help restore peace and bring those responsible to justice.
