Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has ruled out any negotiations over Iran’s military and defense capabilities, saying the country’s missile program is a key part of its national security and deterrence strategy.
Speaking during a joint press conference with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Tuesday, Pezeshkian said Iran would not discuss its defense strength with any country.
> “We will never negotiate with anyone over our defense capabilities,” Pezeshkian said.
He argued that Iran’s missile capabilities had prevented the country from facing a situation similar to Gaza, claiming that without such defenses, foreign powers would have attacked Iran without restraint.
The Iranian leader also criticized Western countries that claim to support human rights, saying their actions contradict their statements.
The remarks came amid continued tensions between Iran and the United States following a recent agreement aimed at ending a conflict involving Tehran and Washington.
Pakistan was reported to have played a role in helping facilitate discussions between Iran and the US, with talks focusing on issues including sanctions relief and regional security.
During his visit to Pakistan, Pezeshkian met with Prime Minister Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari, and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments.
He called for stronger cooperation among Muslim-majority countries, saying Iran supports dialogue, regional stability, and closer partnerships.
Pezeshkian also thanked Pakistan for what he described as its support for Iran during the recent conflict, saying Tehran and Islamabad could open a “new chapter” in their relationship.
