Pakistan has expressed its “profound respect and appreciation” to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei and President Masoud Pezeshkian following the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at ending the conflict between Iran and the United States.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the agreement reflected “wisdom, foresight and statesmanship” in pursuing peace.
“The Islamabad MoU has entered into force with immediate effect as a first step,” Sharif stated, while praising the efforts of Iran’s negotiating team, including Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
He also thanked Qatar, Turkey, Egypt and Saudi Arabia for their roles in supporting the negotiations.
The MoU was digitally signed by the presidents of Iran and the United States after the final text was agreed upon. The deal is expected to lead to a 60-day negotiation period aimed at reaching a broader agreement.
The development follows months of tensions and military exchanges involving Iran, the United States and Israel, with efforts now focused on reducing regional instability and preventing further escalation.
Pakistan said the agreement could become a foundation for greater cooperation, mutual respect and stability across the region.
