A Pakistani army helicopter has crashed near Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, with authorities confirming that everyone on board lost their lives.
According to a statement from the military on Wednesday, the Mi-17 aircraft went down shortly after take-off due to what was described as a technical malfunction. The helicopter was operated by the Pakistan Army Aviation unit.
Officials said there were no survivors, though they did not immediately disclose how many personnel were aboard at the time of the crash.
The incident occurred in a region that remains highly sensitive due to long-standing tensions between Pakistan and India over Kashmir, an area both countries claim in full but administer in parts.
Security in Muzaffarabad has reportedly been tight in recent days, following planned protests by a local movement that authorities had recently restricted under anti-terrorism regulations.
The military has not yet released further details, and an investigation into the cause of the crash is expected.
