The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
A total of 126,291 candidates registered for the examination, which covered 12 subjects and was conducted from April 20 to April 30, 2026.
The Acting Director of Information and Public Relations at NECO, Azeez Sani, announced the release on Thursday, saying the decision followed the successful conclusion of the 2026 BECE Award Committee meeting held at the council’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State.
The committee also approved the date for the 2026 BECE re-sit examination, scheduled for July 22 and 23, 2026, for candidates who have deficiencies in Mathematics and/or English Studies.
The re-sit examination is designed to help affected candidates correct their deficiencies and obtain the required certification for admission and placement into Senior Secondary School (SSS1) without losing an academic year.
The BECE is conducted by NECO for students completing Nigeria’s nine-year basic education programme and serves as a major requirement for transition into secondary school.
